Ramadan 2027 in Morocco: Dates + 15 Essential Darija Phrases
Everything you need to know if you are visiting Morocco during Ramadan 2027
Ramadan 2027 in Morocco is expected to start around early February 2027. If you are traveling to Morocco during this holy month, the atmosphere is amazing – but a bit different.
As someone born and raised here, I made this guide to help you understand how Ramadan works and what to say to connect with locals.
What to Expect During Ramadan in Morocco?
During the day, many cafes are closed, streets are quiet. Right before Ftour (Iftar), everyone rushes home. At sunset, you will hear the cannon and Adhan, then the whole country eats together. After Ftour, the streets come alive again until Suhoor.
As a tourist, you can still eat in hotels and tourist restaurants, but it’s respectful to not eat or drink in public during the day.

- Try Ftour in a Moroccan home: If someone invites you, say yes! It’s an honor.
- Learn to say no politely: If you are not fasting, just say “Smeh liya, ana machi saym” (sorry, I’m not fasting).
